True Love by aspen

from Contest #9

It was the thing he'd always loved about her.

It didn’t matter what anyone else thought, he truly loved it, right down to her mismatched socks.

Totally regardless of any fashion sense he’d ever heard of, Ellan Joe chose to wear her favorites from all the styles.    It amazed him what she thought looked well together.  But he loved the effect.  Not only on her, but on the second looks she always garnered where ever they went.

Today as he picked her up to attend his cousin’s wedding, he noticed her hair first.  Somehow Ellan Joe had made knots through her curls.  Pieces of bow-tie noodles, frosted with some sort of glitter poked out as it held hostage in those knots.  Charming, in its own way, he thought.

Her earrings didn’t match, again.  She had chosen to pair a dangling rhinestone and chains in her left ear with a tiny teardrop opal in her right.  On her, it appeared to work fine, in his eyes.

Around her shoulders she wrapped a bright orange Chinese embroidered scarf, topping an electric pink tube top.  He adored the small cleavage she’d allowed to peek through.

Her day-glow lime green hip-hugger peddle pushers were so tight they looked painted on.

She had chosen a purple fish net knee high and a fuzzy white sock complete with a pom pom to compliment her red suede high top runners.

To top the whole outfit off, Ellan Joe dangled a silver sequined purse from a white patent leather studded wrist strap that he’d picked out for her.

Ellan Joe’s smile completed her ensemble.  The smile he’d grown to appreciate and love more every day.  The smile that exuded her confidence and good humor.  He’d read about ear to ear grins before and never believed they could be real.  Ellan Joe’s smile stretched beyond her jaw line to almost the tip of her ear lobes, proving him wrong.  He would do anything to have that smile beamed at him.

She dimpled as she saw him, fairy kisses high on her cheek bones, above the toothy mile-wide curve of pleasure.  She shook her curly knots, twinkled her eyes as she signaled her readiness to go.

He stood a moment to take in this breathtaking vision of his Ellan Joe.  She would catch everyone’s eye today.  She had truly outdone herself.

And on her it worked.  He proudly took her arm as escort to their function.
