A boy with a parrot on his shoulder was walking along the railway tracks. When he heard a whistle of a train and not long after that a loud screatching sound. He had know clue as to where the train was coming from. He began to panic and thought that the smartest way to get out of the trains way would be to jump along the grass beside the tracks.
He went to jump but, as he went to jump he tripped over his shoe lace and sprained his ankle. He then looked up and saw clearly where the train was coming from. It was only about a mile away from him! "Oh no" he thought. " I should have listened to mom and not came this way. Boy, am I gona get it when I get home...if i make it home." He said to himself with a sigh.
Just then he began to panic and tried and tried to get up but his shoe lace was caught on the railroad and so was his pant leg! He then realized his parrot Polly was no where to be found. "I have to get up. I need to find polly." He looked up again. This time the train was as close as ever, about a minute away. He struggled and pulled and strained to try to get his pants unhooked and his shoes off, but he was in too big of a hurry and panic to do so.
He then started to cry out for help. "HELP!" HELP!" he said yelling, but no one could here him. He looked up again and saw that the train wasn't slowing any. It seemed to be going faster and faster. The screatching gettin closer and closer. He soon realized that the trains breaks was broken and that the train was in the process of crashing. By this time he was hoping and praying that a miracle would happen. "PLease God. PLEASE. I'll obey my mom better and I'll take better care of my bird. I'd do anything for my bird Lord. Shes all i got. Trust me God i've learned my lesson!" He yelled , but with tears in his eyes. His whole life was flashing before his eyes.
All of a sudden he heard a faint chirp. "Polly?" he whispered in dismay. He heard a few more chirps. His eyes lit up when he saw his parrot flying down towards him. She flew straight down to his shoe lace (thinking it was a worm), and got in untangled. He immediatly limped over to the grass and ran a few feet away from the tracks so he wouldnt get hit. "Thank You Polly! Now come here the trains crashing!" He moved his hand for her to craw up and get on his shoulder, but instead she stayed out there. "POLLY POLLY!" He yelled "Come here birdie!" He looked up at the train. As soon as he did the train got off its railing and began to flip. "MOVE POLLY!." So the bird did but the wrong way. The train still tipping was headed straight for his bird. He had to do something. He just didnt know what. The train fell. The boy gasped and began to cry. He ran over there even though his ankle was hurt ad tried looking for his bird. He finally found her. She was laying there, motionless. His heart dropped. He bent down to pic up the bird. as he began to bend down he saw her foot move a little.Polly moves again.
"charrrlie" she said in her little parrot voice. "You remember my name." charlie whispered. He looked and saw that her wing was broken. "I'm gona fix you up." He grabbed His bird and limped all the way home not even caring about the other passengers abourd the train. Charlie brought his bird home. "Look mom" he said. "Oh my gosh, whats happened to you?" "Long story mom. Help me fix her up mom please." He looked up at her with tears in his eyes. "Okay baby" His mom said. She bandaged the bird up, and they both kept a good eye on polly. 6 weeks later he went to check on her. first thing in the mornin' as always. She wasnt in his room this time. He went and looked in her huge cage. No polly. He said "Theres only one more place she could be" He thought. He looked There she was flying around outside. Charlie smiled and knew he took great care of her. " I love you and will never forget you. You saved my life. You really are a great bird." He said with a smile. "Goodbye Polly, have a great life."
